PRIVACY POLICY

Denizen Planet Privacy Statement

Last updated June 29, 2022

We collect as little information as possible about your visit and unless you provide it, nothing about you personally! We have cookies on our site to collect information through Google Analytics, which provides us with aggregate data on where our visitors are from and what pages are the most popular. It also provides us with a graph of visitors to the site by page and date, so that we can see if something we have done (shared a post on Facebook for instance), has resulted in more visits.

Google Analytics also collects your IP address. We do not see names or countries attached to the IP addresses. If you disable cookies none of this data will be collected.

In addition, we may collect personal information in the regular course of running this website, but only the information you voluntarily provide. This document lets you know exactly how we’re protecting the information you entrust to us.

What personal information do you collect about me?

If you comment on an article or sign up for our newsletter we will collect the following information, however, the ONLY information we would make public is the user name you choose to use:

  • The user name you provide is shared publicly if you comment on an article, but not if you sign up for notifications. (Comments are currently disabled, but may be added in the future.)

  • Email Address is collected if you sign up for notifications, but not shared publicly

  • Website address if you entered one is collected but not shared publicly

When you visit our website, we also collect (through Google Analytics):

As noted above, Google Analytics shares general information about your computer, including your IP address, the type of operating system and browser you use, your computer’s general location [country and perhaps city], what pages you visit on our site, and what links, if any, you click. This information is provided to us and we do look at some of it. This information only gives us a general idea of what is popular on the site and what Google search terms you used to get here if any.

How do you use this information?

The main reasons we collect personal information from you are:

  • To allow you to make a comment on an article (not currently available).

  • To allow you to sign up for our new article notifications

  • If you wish to submit something to us for inclusion on the site

Sharing of Personal Information with Third Parties

With the exception of Google Analytics (see above), we do not knowingly share your personal information with anyone. It is possible/probable that some companies or websites you have visited are using cookies to track your web browsing habits, which may include information about a visit to this site, but this is outside of our control.  If this is a concern you should remove all cookies from your computer and clean your cache every time you close your browser.

We will disclose your personal information if we are required by law to do so.

How do you get my consent?

If your web browser accepts cookies you are giving us permission to add your visit to the aggregate data provided to us by Google Analytics. No personal information is collected.

When you comment on an article, sign up for new article alerts, or send us an email for any reason you are consenting to the collection of the personal information you are providing. We only use this information in-house and never share, rent, sell, or in any way give this information to anyone, ever - unless we are required to do so by law.

How do I opt-out?

Opting out is simple. Don’t accept cookies, don’t send us an email, don’t sign up for alerts, don’t submit any work, and don’t comment on an article. If we ask you for information and you don’t want to provide it, then don’t. It is as easy as that.

How do I get more information?

We are happy to answer any questions you may have about your personal information. If you would like more information about our policies, or you would like to see exactly what personal information we have about you in our records, or you wish to register a complaint, please contact:
